Kino Alvarez, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, earned his MFA in Technical Design and Production from Yale’s David Geffen School of Drama in 2025. Drawing on more than a decade of leadership in live performance and cultural innovation, he founded Yale’s flagship “Caribbean Expressions” series, creating vital spaces for Caribbean culture at the University. As artistic director, he elevated New Haven’s Caribbean Heritage Festival by featuring Soca stars Mical Teja, Lyrical, and others. His immersive installation, “Synesthesia in Ferro Tympanum,” earned a prestigious Yale CCAM fellowship, and he was honored with the Dexter Wood Luke Memorial Prize for artistic excellence.
