7th Annual Black Trans Women at the Center

The 7th Annual Black Trans Women at the Center returns this season as a groundbreaking celebration of Black trans artistry, storytelling, and creative leadership.

Co-produced by Long Wharf Theatre and The Theater Offensive and curated by acclaimed artist Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi, this year’s festival continues its tradition of centering Black trans artists telling their own stories. Through new works that challenge oppression, honor trans lives, illuminate histories, and envision transformative futures, the festival offers powerful glimpses into the lived experiences of the Black trans community.

For its seventh year, the festival expands its artistic vision by bringing this year’s cohort together to create a new short film—continuing a spirit of collaboration, community, and co-creation while exploring the possibilities of a more liberated future. Available online, Black Trans Women at the Center reflects Long Wharf Theatre’s commitment to championing boundary-breaking artists and amplifying stories that shape the future of American theatre.
