FABIAN OBISPO returns to LWT where he designed The Chinese Lady, The Romance of Magno Rubio among others. His recent theatre credits include Chinese Republicans at Roundabout’s Laura Pels Theatre, Sumo, The Chinese Lady, and Teenage Dick at the Public Theater/MaYi Theatre. He is a recipient of the Lucille Lortel Award for Sumo and was nominated for the same award for The Chinese Lady. Other awards include the Barrymore and the Berkshire Theatre Critics Award. He has also received nominations for a Helen Hayes, Hewes, Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, Suzi Bass, NAACP, Audelco, and IRNE award. His music for the movie Vancouver won the Best Original Score award at the LA Film Festival’s Indie Short Fest Award, International Motion Picture Awards, and the South Film and Arts Academy Festival Awards. On TV he wrote the score for 20 Years of Asian American Playwriting, a PBS Documentary.

Brandy (Yijin) Zhang (she/her) is a diasporic Chinese arts administrator, producer, and artist. She is committed to fostering human-centered artistic content that promotes intercultural understanding and uplifts communities. After graduating from Dartmouth College, she spent 4 seasons at Northern Stage, LORT D theater in White River Junction, VT on the Artistic and Sales & Marketing teams. Her work can be seen in line-producing select main stage productions and new works, inaugurating the Jazz at the Junction concert series, spearheading partnerships with local nonprofits or indie businesses through special events and curating show-themed interactive installations, and more. She was also actively involved in theater and producing opportunities around the Northern New England area. With a lifelong passion for the performing arts and experience grounded in artistic innovation and community-driven engagement, Brandy is thrilled to be joining the Long Wharf team in continuing its mission to create and bring theater to the greater New Haven region and beyond.

Lighting Design

JIYOUN CHANG is a lighting designer working across theatre and opera. She has designed Chinese Lady, She Loves Me, and El Coquí Espectacular & the Bottle of Doom for Long Wharf Theatre Company. Her Broadway credits include Stereophonic, Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, The Cottage, KPOP, for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf, and Slave Play. Her work has been recognized with the Suzi Bass and Obie Awards, along with multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Lucille Lortel nominations. In opera, she designed Lucia di Lammermoor at Tiroler Festspiele Erl in Austria, Primero Sueño at The Met Cloisters, Il Trovatore at Houston Grand Opera, and The Factotum at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
