We are writing with an important update as Long Wharf Theatre continues to monitor the devastating impact COVID-19 is having here at home and around the world. As this crisis has evolved rapidly, we wanted to update you as soon as we had news to share.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to the health and safety of our staff, artists, supporters, and loyal audiences. Given the recommendations by the city, state, and CDC, we have made the heartbreaking but necessary decision to cancel the remainder of the 2019/20 season at Long Wharf—including our upcoming productions as well as student matinees, classroom work, and all related community programs. We had hoped to delay this decision until more details emerged, but the uncertainty of the moment requires a decided and preemptive course of action to protect everyone in our community.
We intend to honor the many artists who have contributed their talent to the production of shows impacted by these cancellations, and we are diligently exploring opportunities to highlight their contributions next season.
In the meantime, the Long Wharf box office will contact ticket holders of The Chinese Lady and The Great Leap to advance next steps. We truly appreciate your patience as they call to offer refunds or the opportunity to exchange tickets for tax-deductible donations to our gravely affected theatre.
We stand in solidarity with every regional theatre around the country navigating these uncharted waters. We remain hopeful and eagerly await the opportunity to welcome you back to Long Wharf as a rejuvenated community. Until then, please accept and extend our well wishes to your loved ones as we work together to withstand this disruption.
Thanks again for your unrelenting support, which has never been more heartfelt and valued.
With immense gratitude,
Jacob + Kit
