Bring Long Wharf Theatre into your school.

We create an environment of discovery where students are able to explore the issues surrounding their personal lives as well as their placement in local and global communities.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To empower students to seek self-directed learning opportunities.
  • To integrate arts technique into general classroom curricula.
  • To engage students and allow them to make a reciprocal investment in the learning process.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There are 3 ways to bring artists from Long Wharf Theatre into your classroom.

1. Student Theatre Series residencies

Bring us to you before you come to us! Three weeks with a Long Wharf Theatre Teaching Artist helps deepen the theatergoing experience for your students. Residency package includes 30 tickets to bring your students to a student matinee performance, Teacher Information Packet, and Video Study Guide.  COST:  $2,500

2. Make a curriculum connection!

Choose from the residency menu described below, or work with us to design your school's own individual experience. Residencies last for three weeks. COST: $2,000

Past residencies include:

  • Musical Theatre
  • Playwriting or Poetry
  • Shakespeare
  • Story telling (Elementary)
  • Fairy Tales (Elementary)
  • The Diary of Anne Frank (Middle and High School)
  • The Bluest Eye (High School)

3. Already have a busy schedule?

Long Wharf Theatre teaching artists are also available for 1- to 3-day classroom experiences.  In the hectic world we live in, sometimes you only have time for a one-shot experience with a guest artist. COST:  1-day workshops are $250. Having us come in for 3 days is a deal at only $600!

Past workshops include:

  • Public Speaking
  • Auditioning Technique
  • College Interview/Audition Prep
  • Shakespeare's Language

4.  HAVE A LONG WHARF THEATRE GUEST ARTIST DIRECT YOUR SPRING SHOW!

COST:  $3,000 for a six week residency wherein we provide the script and simple costume and set pieces.  Appropriate for interested Elementary and Middle Schools.

Two meetings between LWT staff and the classroom instructor are required before the start of each residency to ensure the best possible experience for you and your students.
