To learn more about the show, go to www.defendingthecaveman.com. Defending the Caveman is a hilarious play about the ways men and women relate to each other. Without taking sides, this insightful comedy discusses the ongoing battle for understanding between the sexes. Through its hysterical observations into contemporary feminism, masculine sensitivity and the erogenous zones, Defending the Caveman mines the common themes in relationships that go straight through the funny bone. Critics across the country have raved about Defending the Caveman, with the Washington Post describing the show as "a blockbuster" and Variety calling the production "hysterically funny." "Defending the Caveman is so perceptive, so witty, so sweetly understanding you can't help feeling exhilarated," according to the Boston Globe. Becker wrote Defending the Caveman over a three year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. Caveman originally opened in San Francisco in 1991 and soon moved to Dallas. After a year in Dallas - now an unqualified hit - Caveman went on to sold-out engagements in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Chicago, before opening on Broadway in 1995. After running two and a half years, playing 702 performances at the Helen Hayes Theater, Caveman entered the record books as the longest running solo play in Broadway history. Caveman has been touring theaters all around America and around the globe ever since. The Cast Michael Van Osch A life filled with sports led Michael to college for sports marketing. This obviously led him to become an actor. Err, what? Yeah, well, life isn't always linear; it was time for a new, more creative direction. Michael started his acting career on the stage in Atlanta. Over the years he has studied with many of New York's finest acting coaches and enjoyed successes on the stage and screen in many independent movies, spots on soaps and commercials. When he's not touring with Defending the Caveman he lives in Manhattan. # # # LONG WHARF THEATRE, founded in 1965, is recognized as a leader in American theater, producing fresh and imaginative revivals of classics and modern plays, rediscoveries of neglected works and a variety of world and American premieres.
