CTHEATRENOW.COM ANNOUNCES CONTEST TO CELEBRATE SUCCESSFUL FIRST SEASON

In celebration of a successful first season of CTheatreNow.com, where hundreds of people from all over the state bought discounted theatre tickets to Connecticut theatres, a fantastic online contest is being announced - "Win Big! The Connecticut Theatre Giveaway."

From April 16 to May 16, visitors to CTheatreNow.com can enter for the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to a show from each of the state's five award-winning, non-profit regional theatres, including Goodspeed Musicals, Hartford Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre.

It is an unprecedented chance to win a full year of theatre that hopes to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

Connecticut's non-profit regional theatres joined together with Theatermania.com in August 2007 to create CTheatrenow.com. It was a historic collaboration on the part of the five theatres, all joining together in a grassroots effort to build their audiences.

The website offers 25 and 50 percent discounts on tickets on the day of performance only, similar to the TKTS booth in New York City. The website provides a listing of productions at these stages and indicates of discounted tickets are available. Ticket offerings change daily.

"It was a success right from the start," said Dan McMahon, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Goodspeed Musicals. "We've had hundreds of people buy tickets and enjoy Connecticut theatre.

"The launch of the website went without a hitch and the feedback from patrons is that it has been very easy to use and a great resource for last minute tickets. Now we hope that more and more people will visit the website and pack our theatres.

Using CTheatreNow.com is simple: Just visit the site and choose from a variety of shows that are available for that evening. Once a purchase has been made with a credit card on the secure CTheatreNow.com website, the buyer will receive an e-ticket and confirmation e-mail for printing.

When arriving at the theatre, the customer simply presents the e-ticket at the box office for a reserved seat, assigned on a best available basis.

CTheatreNow.com provides an easy, fun way to answer the question "What should we do tonight?"
