ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES

RASHEEM DUVALL DIXON
Tenor

Rasheem is a New Haven native who has been singing and performing since the age of five. He attended Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School and Educational Center for the Arts where he studied vocal performance, and music theory. He also participated in many theater performances at ECA as well.

After graduation from high school Rasheem begin working on his first recording, a work entitled "Make Me Your Man Tonight." He continues to perform with many of Connecticut's local bands. He has just returned form Dallas, Texas where he performed with the Dallas Community Choir.

Rasheem is the proud father of two beautiful children, Taylor Rashaun Monay Dixon, and Rasheem Duvall Dixon II. Rasheem is in the process of recording another CD which will be released in the summer of 2008.


HARRIETT ALFRED
Lyric Soprano

A native of Gary, Indiana, Harriett has been a music educator in the New Haven public school system for 19 years. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Hampton University and a Master of Science degree in elementary education from Southern Connecticut State University.

Harriett is the choral music director at The Cooperative Arts and Humanities Magnet High School in New Haven. She has performed on several occasions with the Elm City Vocal Ensemble.

She is also a member and soloist at the Mount Zion Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hamden and The Heritage Chorale of New Haven.


ERIK P. BROWN
Tenor

Erik Brown is a native of New Haven County. He has performed with New Haven Children's Opera Chorus, Trinity Choir of Men and Boys of New Haven, ECA Jazz Ensemble, Sound of Freedom of Milford, and Salt and Pepper Gospel Chorus of New Haven.

Erik attended The Educational Center for the Arts, as well as Southern Connecticut State University. He was co-founder and vocal instructor for the Inner City Theater Program and is currently Principal of Walsh Elementary School in Waterbury, CT.

His singing can be heard with The Elm City Vocal Ensemble.


REGINA T. EDWARDS
Alto

Regina is a graduate of Alabama State University with a bachelor's degree in music education and Southern Connecticut State University with a master's degree in instructional technology. She is a third place winner of the Regional Metropolitan Opera auditions.

Regina has performed at the Square One Theater and directed productions of Memories of a Young Black Writer, The Wiz, Music of the Past to Present, and Broadway at its Best. Regina has also performed with the University of Bridgeport Choir.

She is currently a teacher in the New Haven school system, choral director at Wilbur Cross High School and director of choirs at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church.


RICHARD FORD
High Baritone

Richard has been singing and performing since the age of six. The last six years he has had major roles in To Kill a Mockingbird, Big River, Freedom in the Air and Greensboro: A Requiem.

He currently sings with four New Haven choral ensembles: Yale Camerata, The Heritage Chorale (president), Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church Choir and Bethesda Lutheran Church Choir.

In his professional life, Richard is an organizational development specialist in the University of Massachusetts-Amherst's human resources department.


DANA ELIZABETH FRIPP
Dramatic Soprano

A New Haven native, Dana has appeared in concert with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra New England, Opera Theatre of Connecticut, Elm City Vocal Ensemble and the Hartt Chamber Orchestra. Her Long Wharf Theatre credits include The Good Person of New Haven and Black Nativity.

With Connecticut Opera she has appeared in Othello, Porgy and Bess and the world premiere of Neely Bruce's Hansel and Gretel.

She was featured in a 2001 article for Opera News magazine and was invited to attend the 2001 International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy.

Dana was the recipient of the Rosa Ponselle Memorial Scholarship of Connecticut, the Anne and Andrew Pinto Award and a 1999 Performance Study Grant from the Musical Trust Fund of New York.
